The Washington Nationals, who became the first team to lose 50 games on Friday night in Baltimore, fell 17 games behind Philadelphia in the National League East for the first time Saturday with a 6-3 loss in Baltimore. The New York Yankees crushed their crosstown rival New York Mets Friday night in Queens 9-1 under a beautiful sky and sell-out crowd. The Yankees, who play their first series at Citi Field this weekend haven't won the Subway Series in 6 years but lead in the 2009 matchups 3-1 with two games left to play.

REDS COME OUT VICTORIOUS
Brandon Phillips guided the Reds to Friday night victory in-front of a sold out crowd at Great American Ballpark, as Cincinatti defeated Chicago 4-3. Phillips, who had 3 RBIs and a go-ahead 2-run home run handed the White Sox a painful loss as Paul Konerko hit his 300th home run as a White Sox.

CALIFORNIA BASEBALL AT ITS BEST
Los Angeles Angels catcher Jeff Mathis tags Matt Downs out at the plate in the 7th inning of Wednesday's ball-game. The play at the plate proved crucial as the Angels defeated the Giants 4-3 in San Francisco for their 6th straight win, putting them just 1.5 games out of first place in the American Leauge West.

The Colorado Rockies fell terribly short of there 12th straight win, as it was Gabe Kapler and the Tampa Bay Rays who capitalized Tuesday night, extending their own streak to six consecutive victories with a 12-4 win at Coors Field in Denver.

WHAT A COMEBACK!
In the top of the 8th inning on Monday night, in route to a stunning Brewers comeback in Cleveland, Prince Fielder took Rafael Perez deep for his first ever career Grand Slam. The left field bomb put Milwaukee up 13-12 in a game they trailed 8-1 and went on to win 14-12. Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun combined for 11 runs batted in and the Brewers are now in sole possession of first place in the National League's central division.

The Toronto Blue Jays, who hold the best home record in the American Leauge at 21-10, won a crucial road game in Texas behind the red-hot bat of Adam Lind, above. Lind, who is batting .472 over the last 9 games, hit 2 home-runs. Blue Jays slugger Lyle Overbay, who was named AL Player of the week for batting .533 and snapping baseball's best pitcher Zack Grenkie's homerless streak, went 1 for 3 with a walk in the 6-3 victory at Arlington Ballpark. The Blue Jays are just 2 1/2 games behind New York for first in the East.

The best team in baseball won a game for the ages in walk-off fashion, improving the .667 Dodgers to 21-7 at home. Andre Either, who is pictured above, delievered the two-run game-winning single off the red-hot NL east's best and defending world series champion Philadelphia Phillies and there closer Brad Lidge. Despite over 25 games without Manny Ramierez, the Dodgers are still the #1 team in the majors and, as the Lakers battle Orlando for the NBA Title, Los Angeles is one of the hottest sports town in America.
