PEGAN DELIVERS IN BIG APPLE
When Angel Pegan stepped up to the plate in a tie game with the bases loaded in bottom of the eighth inning, the last thing the sell-out crowd standing and cheering at Citi Field expected to see was a grand slam. Not just because they had already seen a tie-breaking 8th inning grand slam this week, but because it had been nearly 750 days since Angel Pegan had hit a home run. But this unforgettable game in Queens saturday night was anything but predictible. Pegan belted a towering homer into the left field bleachers, breaking the 5-5 score and lifting the crowd into wild celebration. The 9-6 victory was the 6th win in 8 games for the red-hot New York Mets, and with a Phillies loss, brought them closer to contention in the National Leauge East. [Slideshow, Article]
