DODGERS LIFT NL WEST CROWN
With their 5-0 defeat of the Colorado Rockies in front of a routy sell-out at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles secured a National League West crown and a return to the playoffs with the 7th spot. The Rockies, obtaining the 6th spot through the Wild Card will face the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS while the Dodgers will face the Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Tigers, vying for the 8th and final spot, fell to the White Sox 5-1, which combined with the Twins 5-4 victory over Kansas City extend the crowning of the American League Central champion until tomorrow afternoon as Justin Verlander is on the hill against John Danks for Chicago. For Minnesota, Carl Pavano squares off against Luke Hochevar for the Royals. If both teams win or lose, a 1 game playoff will determine the champion. If one wins and one loses, the winning team will advance to the ALDS.
