The New York Yankees' come from behind victory of the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 gave them a 2-1 lead in the World Series. SERIES TO RESUME TOMORROW IN PHILLY
PHILLIES LOOK FOR HOME FIELD EDGE & TITLE, YANKEES LOOK TO SOLVE PHILADELPHIA ROTATION AND STUN FANS
Derek Jeter almost seems to delight in the way this World Series is playing out. Forget all those power hitters. Pitching is priceless. "I told you," he said with a smile. Without any offense from Alex Rodriguez, Jeter and the New York Yankees totaled four runs in the first two games and still eked out a split at home. Now, the Series shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Saturday night, with Cole Hamels set to start for the Phillies against fellow lefty Andy Pettitte. Three wins from a second consecutive championship, Philadelphia could wrap it up at home. Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins and crew can't wait to play before their fervent fans in the second-ever World Series game on Halloween. "We're back in our own ballpark. It's going to be hostile. It's going to be loud," Shane Victorino said. Nothing new, according to the Yankees. "Because of the team we are, we get booed and yelled at everywhere we go," Johnny Damon said. "Even coming off the train." (AP)

NEW YORK EVENS UP WORLD SERIES
SWEET DEFEAT AS BURNETT OUTPITCHES RIVAL PEDRO IN BRONX
In a direct answer to Cliff Lee's gem the night before, the Yankees tied up the 2009 World Series with the Phillies behind A.J Burnett, splitting the first two games in the city that never sleeps before the series shifts to the city of brotherly love for three. Burnett dominated the Philadelphia line-up with 8 strikeouts threw 108 pitches in 7 innings. Mariano Rivera gave up no runs while Johnny Damon and Hedeki Matsui both homered for New York. Pedro Martinez, the Yankees rival of the decade took the loss despite a masterful performance on the mound. He was heavily taunted despite a unexpectadly quiet crowd. Both teams will try to break the 1-1 series tie in Game 3 Saturday. In other news, the tracked World Series ratings have been dominant.

CALM CLIFF DOMINATES IN BRONX
PHILLIES TAKE GAME 1 BEHIND UTLEY'S TWO HOME RUNS
The first World Series game played at the new Yankee Stadium was turned into a somber affair by Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee. Lee gave the crowd of 50,207 little to cheer about while leading the 2008 World Series champions to a victory over the New York Yankees in the first game of the 2009 Fall Classic. The only noise coming from the stands Wednesday was from the quick-traveled Phillies fans scattered in full force. Lee's postseason dominance and Chase Utley's two home runs were enough to sink the Bronx Bombers, shutting them out until the ninth out with a complete game, 6-1, masterful gem.

NEW YORK VS. PHILADELPHIA IT IS
YANKEES DYNASTY MAKES RETURN TO WORLD SERIES
The New York Yankees trumped the Los Angeles Angels, 5-2, in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series to return to the World Series after a six-year wait. Going for their 27th championship ring, the Yankees were aided by several LA Errors Sunday night, avoiding another 3-1-lead-collapse to clinch their 40th pennant. They will host the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in Game 1 to air worldwide on FOX. WEATHER POSTPONES GAME 6
Heavy rainfall, thunder and brisk, speedy winds have made themselves clear. Mother Nature wants no Game 6 Saturday night in the Bronx. Fans east and west will have to hold their breaths another night as suspense intensifies for the Joe Saunders vs. Andy Pettite match-up. Fighting for a place in the World Series, the New York Yankees need just one win to advance, while the Los Angeles Angels must win two consecutive games to propel themselves to a all-red World Series match-up with the Philadelphia Phillies. "It doesn't get any better than this, especially going into that ballpark," said Figgins, the Angels' leadoff hitter. "It's going to be another crazy game, I can tell you that. You go back and just enjoy it. The pressure is on both teams." In other news, the New Yankee Stadium is finally finding itself with typical-new stadium hardships like Citi Field in Queens. The Stadium is encountering intense problems and is in need of repair, not wanting to look unpolished for probable the World Series stage Wednesday.

PLAYOFF BASEBALL AT ITS BEST & ANGELS FORCE GAME 6
After John Lackey's masterpiece, tragedy struck in Anahiem for fans across California as the Angels bullpen squandered a 4-0 lead and gave up 6 runs to the Yankees in the 7th inning. New York's fans grew loud and exuberant, even within Angel Stadium. New York appeared to be headed to the World Series to face the Philadlephia Phillies. But then, there was the bottom of the inning. "You don't want the season to end, that's for sure," catcher and surprise hitting sensation Jeff Mathis said. "There was some talk about not wanting to have the Yankees celebrate on our field, I can tell you that," added Torii Hunter, the heart and voice of his team.Just when all looked lost, the Los Angeles Angels took a cue from an old friend. With their Rally Monkey doing his best work in years, the Angels sent the AL championship series back to New York. Although bad calls hurt the Angels several times in Game 4, it was the Yankees who put the pain on them big time. ~STORY OF THE WEEK~ANOTHER LATE RALLY PROPELS PHILLIES TO NLCS
After the Rockies rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 4-2 lead, all seemed over in Game 4. Thunderous celebration echoed in the stands of Coors Field, and Huston Street, the hero of Game 2, was in to close the door. But, instead, for the second consecutive night, Street collapsed and the Phillies rallied- this time for three runs of their own. The 5-4 lead stuck and Brad Lidge put away the final out. For the second consecutive year, the Philadelphia Phillies are headed to the NLCS with a shot at repeating 2008. The Colorado Rockies were the only series-losing team to win a game of the 2009 Division Serieses. But, the sour defeats of the last two nights mean heartbreak for Denver's faithful- yet to see Colorado win a championship in one of America's most hardcore sports towns. WITH EVERYONE WATCHING, TEBOW AND GATORS STUN TIGERS
A true Cinderella story. Two weeks after sustaining a concussion, Tim Tebow — and Florida’s swarming defense — silenced L.S.U. Tebow tossed a go-ahead 24-yard touchdown pass in a 13-3 victory that could have been the Gators’ toughest regular-season test. Tebow completed 11 of 16 passes for 134 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 38 yards. The game broke college football television rating records and stormed a unprecedented media and blog frenzy that shut down over a dozen websites with traffic. The story even overshadowed the Los Angeles Dodgers sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals and advancement into the National Leauge Championship Series.

YANKEES & ANGELS UP 2-0 IN ALDS

REGULAR SEASON COMES TO CLOSING
The 2009 regular season has come to a end. In a year of tragedy, triumph, disaster, misery and celebration, two majestic ballparks opened, one is set to close and 8 are headed to the postseason with teams from across the country making trips looking for anything from their twenty seventh title to their first. Notably, the Orioles lost 13 consecutive games, and the longest winning streak of the season was held, surprisingly, by the Padres. Above, Citi Field, home of the Mets will not shine into the postseason but made itself noticed in its first year to impress (with big crowds and beautiful sunsets, at least). The first postseason game is tomorrow, as the Tigers and Twins face off in a one-game playoff to determine the American League Central championship.
